I've lived in Scappoose 30 years and whenever I saw Pat she was at the Scappoose Public Library or working with a teen-age student. Her love of education was apparent. Her dedication to both Scappoose High School students in need and the library were an inspiration to many, inlduding me. I worked with her last on the multi-month preparation for the library's 80th anniversary in 2009. She LOVED the library and was revising it's history for the Friends to publish in a booklet to be enjoyed by many. Even though she was noticably aging, she wanted to do everything possible to prepare and help for that milestone. Her numerous years on the Board were served with common sense and wisdom; her devotion as a volunteer with Friends of the Scappoose Public Library will never be forgotten. She was instrumental in building the beautiful library we have today with it's professional staff to serve us well into the 21st century. I'm, sure she also inspired many struggling teenage students to keep learning, not give up, and make something of their lives. She will be missed in the Scappoose community.
