Patricia Carol Johnston's Obituary
Patricia Carol was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 6, 1927 to William W. and Violet C. Ries Wells.
When Pat was young, her family moved to Missouri. She graduated from Kirtwood High School; and then attended William Wood College in Fulton, Missouri.
She married Robert B. Johnston in Kirkwood, Missouri. They moved to Oregon in the early 1960's.
While raising six children; she studied oil painting; stained glass art; and creative writing. Pat also volunteered as a Portland tour guide in her limited spare time.
After her 1978 divorce; she volunteered at Scappoose High School; becoming a full employed teachers aid; working with disadvantaged children as well as a coordinator of the summer work experience program.
Pat was a prolific reader and believed in sharing the power of books. She was a member of The Friends of the Scappoose Library; and also served on the Library Board. Some other things Pat enjoyed were travel, garage sailing, going to the opera, sewing, and spending time with family and friends.
Pat is survived by her Children: Stephen Douglas Johnston of Beaverton; Candice Leigh Johnston Kooyman of St. Helens; Jeffery Scott Johnston of Vancouver; Melissa Ann Johnston Kooyman of Columbia City; and Anthony Lathrop Johnston of Scappoose; Brother, William W. Wells of Olympia; Grandchildren: Matthew, Jessica, Christopher, Stephani, Nicole, Stephen, and Catie; Great Grandchildren: Alexis, Ashlin, Audra, Braden, Brody, Devon, Henry, Seth, Dylan, Drake, Justice; 2 Nieces and 1 Nephew. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael B. Johnston; her sister, Barbara JoAnn Wells Brett and her ex-husband, Robert.
