My deepest sympathy to the family of Gary, Michelle, Ryan and Katherine. Gary and I became friends when he lived in Morris, Illinois. My prayers will be with the entire family.
I did not know this family, but as a member of the community I would like to send condolences. The Rutledges sound like they were a wonderful family who was tragically taken.

I’m remembering the times we played baseball in the CR Hannah schoolyard, backyard football in the snow and sliding down their hill. We were neighbors for many years just four houses away. Gary made me laugh, smile and was a wonderful wonderful friend! We played on the Cardinals little league football 6th, 7th and 8th grade as teammates. Gary was always a little bit of a prankster, and I’m gonna throw myself under the bus. I remember one time being at his house and I had to go to the bathroom really bad. I failed to notice that there was no toilet paper. Gary made me wait for quite a bit of time because he found it very humorous before he brought me some TP.
Can’t remember exactly when I met Gary, it’s like I’ve always known him. My parents always called him dimples and all who knew him know why. Didn’t see him often but did message and talk to him on phone every couple months like no time had passed between talks. He loved his family and could hear how much in his voice when he spoke of them. Great man and family lost way to soon. Fly high my friend until we meet again❤️🌻
Gary and I met at the science table in 8th grade. Our friendship lasted a lifetime despite not seeing each other for many years. I enjoyed spending time with him and his family last spring. It felt like I knew them forever as they all treated us as family. All very special people who have left a huge whole in the world. My condolences to their entire family.
