Obituary of Stanley "Stan" Conway Wagner
Funeral services will be held, 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 1st at Columbia Funeral Home. Visitation Friday, 10-5 PM, April 30th. Stan passed away at Milwaukie, Oregon, he was 83.
Stan was born February 4, 1927 at Portland, Oregon to Gustave H. and Ollie T. Peterson Wagner. He was the eldest of two sons. Raised in Portland he attended Rigler Grade School and graduated from Grant High School in 1946. After school he attended business colleges, Vanport Junior College and Oregon State University.
In the early 50's he moved to Astoria and purchased and managed the Drift Drive-in. Stan also farmed his family's 300 acres and leased anther 700 acres for wheat and oats. He joined the family business, Scoopmobile Mixermobile in 1954 working there until 1968. In 1970 he purchased Sparks and renamed it Sparks-Wagner Inc. Stan owned and operated the business for over 30 years.
Stan moved to Scappoose in 1977 were he resided on the Wagner Ranch, a 300 acre parcel of land owned since 1939 by his family, farming and enjoying life.
Stan was introduced to Florence by his best friend Fred and it was on March 19, 1983 in Portland they were wed. Stan loved the outdoors; he was an avid fisherman and hunter. He traveled around the states, Canada and New Zealand sharpening his skills.
Stan is survived by his wife Florence L. Wagner, children; Thomas Jodi Wagner of Costa Mesa, CA, Marilyn Johnston of Junction City, OR, Jim Tanya Wagner of Gustavus, AK, Norman & Robert Wagner, both of Phoenix, AZ., daughter-in-law Linda Wagner of Fullerton, CA, Step-children; Clancy Ed Bradford of Scappoose, Diane Cronk of Condon, OR and Karen Marble of Milwaukie. 12 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren and 12 step-grandchildren, his former wives; Elaine Robinson and Joanne Schults.
His son Stephen and brother Verne Wagner preceded him in death.
