Ted was one of my fondest "back then" memories. We were good friends in 1960 - 61 era.Because of Ted I was able to meet (actually got to talk with) the then Senator John F. Kennedy when he made his trip to Astoria prior to his first election as President. Ted was the president of the Young Democrats & due to the position was asked to organize a question/answer session from the students who were assembled to hear the Senator.Ted controlled the "who" did the asking and had editor's rights on the questions. I got to ask a question regarding Cuba's trade agreement with USA.Shortly thereafter, the importance of that particular question was nullified a few months later (Embargo and picket line around Cuba to prevent shipment of nuclear warhead missiles).I remember just how in awe he was of a certain "girl" he'd met at OSU.Yep, you guessed it: her name was Prudy Johnson.I thought he was considering a flirtation with her when the next time I saw him passing through town he informed me he was going to ask her to marry him.He did and they did.To you, Prudy, I give my condolences and my abject apology for not learning of Ted's distress and death sooner than this past Sunday (January 12, 2014).Thanks for the memories, Ted...God Bless.Reta Sabey Leithner [email protected]
